Local Area

Tapestry Cottage is close to Thetford Forest with its waymarked walks, cycling tracks and nature trails. The Norfolk Cycle Way, and long distance paths the Peddars way and the Icknield Way are close by.

Further affield, and easily accessible by car are the Norfolk Broads and the Norfolk Wildlife Trust sites, which include Cley Marshes and Hickling Broad. Norfolk and North Suffolk's historic sites, English Heritage and National Trust properties are all within approxmiately an hours drive.

The market towns of Thetford, Attleborough, Diss and Wymondham are all within a short drive. Norwich and Bury St Edmunds with Antique Centres, art galleries, museums and cathedrals are both 30 min drive.

East Harling

The village centres around the old market square. The Church is rich in medieval art with a glorious 15th Century east window and memorials to the Herling and Lovell families. Recently, it was discovered that the identity of the well known portrait in the National Gallery London "Lady with Squirrel" painted by Holbein, is a portrait of Ann Lovell.
